Yellow warning of rain and storms London & South East

17:00 on Wednesday until 05:00 on Friday
Although some areas will miss them, potentially intense thundery downpours seem likely to affect parts of the warning area from Wednesday late afternoon or early evening onwards into the early hours of Thursday or Thursday morning. Further scattered thunderstorms are then likely to break out from Thursday afternoon onwards into Thursday night. Please be aware of possible disruption to travel and localised flooding as well as frequent lightning.
BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.

I'm on the Isle of Wight and I've just had the mutha of all thunderstorms. Seems to have quietened down now though

Southend is quiet as a mouse. Really hoping for a big storm through. Nothing quite like looking out over the Thames estuary with lightning and thunder crashing down. Love stormy weather

Me too. I love rain. The streets are devoid of you apes jabbering at each other or bellowing into mobile phones. Less traffic on the roads, too. Far more peaceful in general. Basically I wish most of you were dead. No offence.

Do you remember how peaceful commuting was before the mass ownership of mobile phones? Solo travellers (that's most of us) would sit quietly in dreamy reflection, or read the newspaper. Now it's like deafening freeform jazz where instead of musical instruments all playing different tunes, it's the world's languages in competition to see which is the ugliest. Is it Somali, Tamil or Tagalog that takes the crown? I can't decide.
